Trae Bell-Haynes and Bridget Carleton named Toyota Players of the Week for April 26-May 2

Trae Bell-Haynes and Bridget Carleton have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for April 26 - May 2

In two games this past week for HARKO Merlins Crailsheim (Germany), Bell-Haynes averaged 18 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds, while shooting 58% from the field and continuing what has been an excellent season in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Germany’s top tier professional league.  In 34 games, the 6’2'' guard is averaging 16.8 points and 7.1 assists for Crailsheim.  After spending four years at the University of Vermont, Bell-Haynes has played professionally overseas in Germany and Finland.  The Toronto native has also been a key member of Niagara River Lions in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) over the last two seasons and during the 2020 Summer Series, he led the team in points per game (16.2), assists per game (4.2), steals per game (1.5) and field goal percentage (52.5%).  Bell-Haynes last represented Canada during the first window of the FIBA AmeriCup 2022 Qualifiers.

Carleton picked up where she left off last season and in her Minnesota Lynx preseason debut against the Atlanta Dream, led the team in scoring with ten points (3/5 3FG), while also adding four rebounds, two assists and a steal.  Now in her third season, Carleton is looking to make an impact this year for a Lynx team that has WNBA championship aspirations.  The 6’1” guard from Chatham, ON spent four years with the Iowa State Cyclones and in her senior season smashed several school records on her way to Big 12 Player of the Year honours.  Since making her Team Canada debut at the 2013 FIBA U16 Americas Championship for Women, Carleton has represented the red and white every year and most recently helped Canada secure a Tokyo 2020 berth at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament last February in Ostend, Belgium.

Canada Basketball’s Player of the Week is sponsored by Toyota.
