Marcus Carr and Laeticia Amihere have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for November 23-29.

Carr has had an impressive start to his junior year with the University of Minnesota, where he helped lead the undefeated Gophers to two consecutive wins in their first two games of the season. The 6-foot-2 forward averaged 32 points, six assists and five rebounds, while shooting 54% from the field against Green Bay and Loyola. In Minnesota’s season opener against the Phoenix, the Canadian matched a career-high 35 points to help secure their 99-69 win. Since joining the Gophers last season after a transfer from the University of Pittsburgh, Carr has definitely proven himself. In his first year, he set a program high 207 assists and was named an All-Big Ten Third Team selection by the media. Carr previously represented Canada at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men, where he helped win a silver medal.

Amihere, a sophomore for the University of South Carolina, is also having a stellar start to her collegiate season. In the Gamecock’s first two games, she averaged 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in their victories over Charleston and South Dakota. Before joining South Carolina last year, the Mississauga native was ranked a No. 2 forward in the 2019 class and made history in 2017 as the first Canadian woman to dunk in a game when she threw one down at the age of 15. The 19-year-old has been a member of Canada’s national team for four years, donning the red and white jersey at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Women, FIBA U17 Women's World Championship 2016, FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2017, and most recently earlier this year at the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, where she helped Canada secure their spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. In her young career, she’s earned two medals with Team Canada, including gold at the FIBA U16 Americas and bronze at the FIBA U19 World Cup.
