Junior Cadougan and Miranda Ayim have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for July 12-18.

Cadougan averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and shot 67% from the field over the past two games with the Ottawa Blackjacks (CEBL). His performance helped the Blackjacks take a huge win over the previously undefeated Edmonton Stingers. The 6”2’ guard from Toronto, ON played for Marquette University (NCAA) where he won two consecutive Big East Championships with the Golden Eagles. Cadougan played professionally in Europe for three seasons before returning to Canada and signing with the St. Johns Edge (NBL) before making the move over to the CEBL with the Fraser Valley Bandits, before joining the Blackjacks earlier this year. Cadougan has played for the Senior National Team at several International tournaments, most recently representing Team Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games, where he won silver, and the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup.

Yesterday, Ayim was announced as the Team Canada’s Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony Flag Bearer, alongside Nathan Hirayama from the men’s rugby 7s team. The announcement makes Ayim the first-ever basketball flag bearer for Team Canada. The 6”3’ forward is no stranger to repping the maple leaf as a three-time Olympian who has played for Team Canada for over 15 years. The Pepperdine University (NCAA) graduate has spent the past six seasons playing for Basket Landes (France), helping the team’s win it’s first Championship in 13 years this past Spring. In March, Ayim announced that Tokyo would be the final tournament of her career, as she plans to retire from her professional career after the Olympics. The London, ON native will step into the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremonies holding the Canadian flag this Friday, July 23rd at 7:00AM ET. Ayim and the rest of the Senior Women’s National team will face Serbia in their first game of the Olympic Tournament on Monday July 26th at 4:20AM ET.
