Dillon Brooks and Michelle Plouffe have been selected as the Toyota Players of the Week for May 17-23.  

Over a three game stretch with the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooks averaged 23 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, playing a crucial role in helping his team secure two play-in victories and the 8th seed in the Western Conference. In the first game of the quarter-final series, Brooks led his team with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists to help the Grizzlies upset the Western conference top seed, the Utah Jazz. Brooks was drafted 45th overall at the 2017 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. In his first NBA game with the Grizzlies, the 6’7” Mississauga native scored the most points ever by a Canadian in an NBA debut with a historic 19 points. Brooks recently played for Canada during the third window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers and won silver at the 2015 Pan American Games. Brooks will be joining team Canada on their journey to the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. 

Plouffe earned her Player of the Week recognition leading our Canadian 3x3 women’s team with an average of 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds at their first stop at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s World Tour 2021. Plouffe played college ball at the University of Utah (NCAA) where in her rookie year, she led all freshmen in the conference in scoring and was named MWC Freshman of the Year. In the 2014 WNBA draft, the Edmonton native was selected in the second round, 19th overall by the Seattle Storm. Soon after, the 6’4” forward began her professional career signing with Lyon ASVEL Feminin (LFB) in France. Playing a total of 110 games with Team Canada, Plouffe has most notably repped the maple leaf at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2017 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, where her team took home the gold at both events. The 28-year-old has also represented Canada at both the 2012 (London) and 2016 (Rio) Olympic Games.
