Canada falls to the USA 99-81 in the the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2021 semifinals

XALAPA, MEXICO (August 28, 2021) - After a tough battle, Canada fell in the the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2021 semifinals, 99-81, to the USA.

Efeosa Oliogu led Canada in points scored (17), Olivier Rioux led in rebounds (12) and Baraka Okojie led in assists (8). Mikkel Tyne had another strong performance with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.

"Well fought battle for our guys tonight," said head coach Patrick Tatham. "The players showcased their discipline, their composure and played with great pride in the first half."

Canada will face the Dominican Republic tomorrow at 6:30PM ET to battle it out for bronze.

"The team has gotten better incrementally day in and day out," said Tatham. "That's really what this is all about - our team developing while we win and I think they guys are getting better each and every day which will pay dividends for us going into this bronze medal game and into the U17 World Championships next year."
